We’re sorry to announce that Helen Tobias will be leaving SWAM at the end of May as she will be re-locating to Toulouse with her husband.
Helen moved to Bristol from Newcastle when she joined the agency in July 2000 as one of the three original ‘Swammies’ and has made many friends here in the region. As Bristol Marketing Director, her wide-ranging skills and knowledge have been in demand from day one and there are countless organisations who are going to miss her generous support and friendship.
In three years, Helen has had over 4,000 meetings with artists and arts organisations in the Bristol region and beyond, working on large-scale projects such as Dance Live! Bristol and Art4Bristol as well as providing in-depth support to individuals and organisations developing their marketing, branding and communication strategies.
Helen has been particularly successful in developing links with the tourism sector, taking an active role in Bristol Tourism’s Marketing Advisory Group and making significant links between key service providers and the arts.
Although rumours that Helen will be opening the first European office of SWAM are – so far! – unfounded, we are hoping she will be able to work with us on projects in the future as a freelance consultant.
In the meantime, all Helen’s friends and colleagues here in the South West join us in wishing her every happiness in her new life as an émigré.
Incidentally, we’re told that visitors to Toulouse will be warmly welcomed as long as they take Marmite, English tea, golden syrup, baked beans, tomato ketchup and frozen ready-made meals! And we thought it was her friends and colleagues that Helen would miss…
