South West Arts Marketing is a new regional agency offering strategic services and support to artists and arts organisations in the South West looking to broaden and increase their audiences.
The agency is an independent body funded by South West Arts, Bristol City Council and the Arts Council of England.
There are three core staff Director (Shirley Kirk), Marketing Officer (Ruth Staple), Bristol Director (Helen Tobias) based at the Bristol office in St Nicholas Church.
The agency provides support in five main areas:
· Networking working with existing groups and looking to establish new relationships between artists and arts organisations sharing common objectives
· Training facilitating access to appropriate training for all needs and levels of experience
· Advice holding and disseminating key strategic information and tools to help artists and organisations achieve best practice in arts marketing
· Data analysis auditing and interpreting existing research to provide information of real value to arts marketers in the region
· Research commissioning new research to back up existing profiling and benchmarking of arts audiences in the region
South West Arts Marketing is looking to add value to existing marketing activity by empowering the extremely hardworking and highly skilled people who already do a very good job in attracting audiences for the broad range of quality work in the region. We recognise that there are very different levels of marketing experience and resources amongst the organisations with whom we hope to work and that there will be different solutions needed. Some of these will be very practical on a one to one basis and some will be co-ordinating strategic initiatives that are region-wide. We will not be carrying out day to day marketing activities on behalf of any artists or organisations but hopefully giving you the tools to do so in an effective manner.
The support of the agency is completely free of charge in almost every instance, only incurring a cost when a single organisation requires consultancy or a marketing audit that takes more time than is practical within the demands of a balanced regional support service.
