New Marketing Co-ordinator for Dorset

Dorset Arts Promoters Forum have been given a Grants for the Arts Award to develop their work across the county over the next two years and key to delivering the consortium’s objectives will be the new Marketing Co-ordinator, working as part of SWAM.

The post, which will be part time and fixed term, has been created to co-ordinate and deliver marketing support to members of DAPF.  The post holder will work closely with artists, venues and arts organisations throughout the county, offering strategic support and services that will help to raise the quality of arts marketing and broaden the existing audience base.

The co-ordinator will be key to ensuring that collaborative audience development projects are launched, monitored and reported on.  Implementation of marketing, communications and training initiatives will also be primary activities but the new post holder will be responsible for ensuring that work is driven by the needs and priorities of people working in the arts in Dorset.

Shirley Kirk, Director of South West Arts Marketing, has welcomed the opportunity to work with DAPF on the exciting programme of skills development and practical initiatives planned by the steering group.

“DAPF has an enviable track record in developing the professional skills of individuals and organisations in Dorset and I’m delighted to be working with the consortium to build on their achievements in this way.  It will be particularly important to make sure that the arts are represented in as many networks and consortia across the county as possible and that cross-sector partnerships continue to strengthen.  The arts in Dorset have a lot to shout about and the work done by DAPF makes sure that people are listening.”

As well as introducing the marketing co-ordinator post, DAPF will be continue to offer members networking and training opportunities and hold their highly successful biennial

conference celebrating the arts in Dorset.
