Swam Conference Dates Announced

In April 2001 SWAM held it's first conference It's Good To Talk to discuss all aspects of communication in relation to arts marketing and audience development.  We were delighted with the response - nearly 150 people attended, and judging by the feedback, so were you.

So we are pleased to announce our conference for 2002.  Getting Personal will take up the themes introduced last year and look at developing the ongoing relationships with audiences and partners alike.  It will be held on Thursday 18th April at the County Cricket Ground in Bristol.

We've listened carefully to your comments from last year and kept all the elements you enjoyed so much... "Good quality speakers"

We are very pleased to welcome back Stephen Cashman from developing Audiences in the Nrth who will be talking about audience retention; Andrew McIntyre from Morris Hargreaves McIntyre to talk about the arts of persuasion when communicating with your audience; Liz Hill to further her discussion on the practical applications of market research in understanding your audience; and Anne Roberts to discuss personal development.

"Extremely useful"

Beth Aplin will discuss improving customer relationships by working with your front of house staff, Katie Raines from the Theatre Royal in Newcastle will talk about encouraging customer loyalty, Sarah Gee from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will discuss the power of having a strong brand, and Adrian Phillips from the Phone Room will be holding a Telemarketing clinic to answer your questions and address any problems you may care to share.

"Good value for money"

This year the proce per delegate is £30 for the arts sector, and £75 for the non-arts sector.  We are also hoping to offer bursaries to delegates from Education Action Zones as last year so do please contact us to see if your area is covered by these schemes.

We've also tried to improve on the little niggles.. "more breakouts please"

This year delegates will be able to attend three breakout sessions in addition to the keynote speeches and networking opportunities.

"More interaction and discussion"

There will be a wider variety of formats for this year's breakouts including a telemarketing clinic and increased time for question and answer sessions.  The rest is up to you...

"Lots of nice people to talk to"

So set a date in your diary for 18th April 2002 at the County Cricket Ground in Bristol, for practical sessions, keynote speakers and plenty of networking opportunities.  Watch out for the mailing at the end of February.
